Contrary to the misconception, morning sickness doesn’t occur only in the morning, it can strike any time of the day and sadly for some, it can be all day long.
Morning sickness is believed to be a result of the increased hormone level that comes with pregnancy. It’s often one of the first early signs of pregnancy and varies from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy.

This might seem impractical because being pregnant doesn’t mean your work stops or you quit caring for your family, you simply have to forego some of the things in your to-do list or delegate. You have to make self-care a priority and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Be careful not to lie down immediately after a meal as it can aggravate the morning sickness symptoms.

We all know that keeping hydrated is important for everyone but it’s super important for moms to be especially if you can barely keep anything down. You can add some strawberries, lemons, limes, blueberries in your water which improves the taste. Staying hydrated doesn’t mean you only have to drink water, just make sure that you are getting plenty of fluids. This can be smoothies, juice, tea, and milk.
Another way to relieve morning sickness is eating regularly. Simply make sure you have healthy snacks near you throughout the day. This might be a bit challenging especially in the first trimester because sometimes you will have zero appetite.
Eating small meals throughout the day instead of three big meals will leave you feeling much better and keeps your blood sugar more stable. This reduces the acid in the stomach since there is food to digest. The lack of acid stops the gagging and nauseous feeling. Morning sickness is worse on an empty stomach, always make sure that doesn’t happen.

There are so many ways you can go about preparing it. Regardless of whether you decide to eat or drink it remains a good natural morning sickness remedy. You can make yourself a cup of ginger tea, ginger cookies, ginger candy, ginger sweets, soup or even ginger smoothie.
6. Take morning sickness tea
This is by far my favorite morning sickness remedies. Even though you are not a big fan of tea, this is morning sickness remedy you have to try because it has worked wonder for so many pregnant women and it’s extremely affordable as well. This morning sickness tea is great as it can be drunk hot or cold and it’s decaffeinated. It’s also a perfect way to keep you hydrated as you can try sipping it throughout the day.
7. Go for walks
Going for walks is a perfect way to distract yourself. You get to enjoy the cold breeze and think of something else apart from how bad your morning sickness is. Taking in a few breaths of cold air is good for you as it regulates hormonal activity in your body and you will feel much better.
I recently saw my friend with this portable fan that is genius. Its battery-operated and super light. This means it will keep you cool when you are at work in those situations and places where you just can’t take a walk for a cold breeze or you can’t stay near an open window.
Try to incorporate some light exercise each day in your routine as well like swimming (of course walking) as it releases endorphins which can help reduce nausea.
8. Hot water with lemon
Lemon is one of the foods that help to relieve morning sickness. If you are finding it challenging drinking plain water, adding a slice of lemon helps as it gives it some taste and it’s so gentle on the stomach.
Apart from having hot lemon water another way you can use lemon to relieve morning sickness is by cutting and sniffing it which will help calm your stomach. The refreshing smell does wonders.

17. Take Prenatal gummy Vitamins
So many women gag and vomit from taking regular prenatal vitamins when they are going through morning sickness. If your Prenatal vitamins are making your morning sickness worse try changing the time that you take them. For example, you can take them in the afternoon or evening after your stomach has settled. If that still doesn’t work you can switch your prenatal to prenatal gummy vitamins. Take to your doctor first before making the change. The prenatal gummy vitamins don’t usually have iron in them. These prenatal gummy vitamins have worked for so many pregnant women they are worth a try.
Most pregnant women have reported positive results with the use of different aromatherapy products . You can try out things like aromatherapy candles while you are taking a bath or you are just relaxing at night.
Essential oils such as peppermint, lavender, orange, lemon, and grapefruit bring warm feelings and are great for relieving nausea during pregnancy. You can place a few drops on a handkerchief and inhale when you feel like nausea coming on or you can diffuse it. For essential oils, they can be diffused using a diffuser, by steam inhalation or applied on your skin with a carrier oil.
Most pregnant women prefer using a diffuser as it’s the easiest to use. You simply throw a few drops in with water, press a button and you are set. If you want to do the steam inhalation, just boil some water, add a couple of drops and lean your head over and inhale. You may not have all the time to be that fancy, just put some essential oil on your hands and rub it around and then cup my hands over your nose and smell it.
A few things to always carry with you are a bottle of water, a hair tie, breath mint, a packet of tissues and hand wipes, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash. Especially if you don’t work from home because you never know when or where morning sickness is going to strike.
Pregnancy is fun but sometimes you feel like you are going to lose it. Thankfully there are a few things you can try to relieve the morning sickness.
